Designed specifically for vertical viewing on social media platforms, the video delivers a stark and emotional narrative about the realities faced by civilians, the targeting of safe havens and medical personnel, and the failure of international protections. It ultimately serves as a critique of global double standards, contrasting the theoretical rights of humans with the harrowing daily reality on the ground.

My Approach

Given the immense gravity of the subject matter, I chose a raw, painterly 2D illustration style. This textured, hand-drawn aesthetic strips away corporate polish, allowing the raw human emotion and tragedy to take center stage. I utilized a very moody, high-contrast color palette—relying on deep shadows punctuated by the bright, destructive flashes of conflict—to underscore the bleakness of the environment.

The motion design is deliberately solemn and paced to match the heavy, reflective tone of the voiceover. Instead of fast, flashy animations, I focused on powerful visual metaphors: the shattering of the UN documents like fragile glass, the isolation of families in the dark, and the framing of the conflict through a bystander's smartphone screen. This approach ensures the animation acts as a deeply empathetic and thought-provoking piece of journalism rather than just a standard news graphic.
