This motion graphics explainer was produced for the Dutch Relief Alliance to showcase the extensive humanitarian efforts of the Yemen Joint Response program between 2022 and 2023. The video breaks down the severe challenges faced by the Yemeni population—such as armed violence, economic crises, and disrupted public services—and highlights the collaborative response of seven member organizations and eight local partners. By effectively visualizing large-scale data, the animation details the program's vital work in providing life-saving assistance across sectors like water, sanitation, food security, livelihoods, and healthcare to over 800,000 individuals.

My Approach

To communicate heavy data and serious humanitarian topics, I utilized a clean, flat 2D illustration style combined with dynamic infographic elements. The visual language heavily incorporates textured paper motifs, sticky notes, and smooth, continuous line animations to make the statistics feel grounded and human-centric rather than overly corporate. I used a carefully selected earthy color palette featuring warm oranges, muted greens, and soft yellows to reflect the region while keeping the tone respectful and hopeful. The motion design focuses on seamless transitions—such as nodes connecting across a map or puzzle pieces snapping together—to reinforce the core theme of collaboration, resilience, and unified action.
