This documentary-style motion graphics piece was created for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to document the catastrophic 2008 floods in the Hadramout region of Yemen and the organization's comprehensive response. The video maps the trajectory of the devastation from Wadi Alain to Tareem and details the FAO's strategic interventions, which included rebuilding critical water infrastructure, fostering agricultural resilience, and empowering local communities through job creation and sustainable water management.

My Approach

To present this historical and deeply impactful narrative, I developed a textured, mixed-media collage aesthetic. I utilized ripped paper transitions, scrapbook-style photographic cutouts, and earthy color palettes to give the piece a grounded, archival feel. The motion design relies heavily on dynamic, animated maps to track the flood's path and visually anchor the geographic scale of the disaster. By seamlessly weaving real-world footage of farmers and reconstructed infrastructure into these stylized graphical layouts, I ensured the focus remained on the human element and the tangible, restorative impact of the FAO's initiatives.
