This motion graphics explainer was produced for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen to outline the scope and goals of the Social Protection for Community Resilience Project (SPCRP). Funded by the European Union, the video effectively breaks down the severe economic and humanitarian toll of Yemen's protracted conflict since 2015. It then transitions to a clear, data-driven presentation of the $28 million initiative, visualizing how the project aims to benefit hundreds of thousands of vulnerable individuals—particularly women, youth, and marginalized minorities—through short-term employment, healthcare rehabilitation, and psychosocial support.

My Approach

To communicate the gravity of the humanitarian crisis while remaining focused on data and solutions, I adopted a mixed-media documentary style. The animation opens with stark, black-and-white photographic cutouts and distressed paper textures to represent the initial devastation and statistical data. As the narrative shifts to the EU and UNDP's interventions, the visual language brightens, transitioning into a clean, flat 2D vector style. I incorporated fluid camera movements and isometric architectural animations to visually explain the rebuilding of infrastructure and healthcare facilities. This deliberate contrast between raw photography and polished vector graphics helps the viewer transition emotionally from the severity of the crisis to the structured, hopeful impact of the SPCRP initiative.
